KINGSPORT — The dog days of summer took a bite out of the Kingsport Mets on Saturday night.
Princeton’s Brandon Henderson pitched five strong innings, allowing just one hit and one run, and the Rays topped the K-Mets 6-3 in Appalachian League play at Hunter Wright Stadium.
“I can’t say enough about the job Henderson did tonight,’’ Princeton manager Michael Johns said.
Ryan Brett opened the game for Princeton (11-8) with a double to left. Joel Caminero singled to center and the Rays were up 1-0.
Princeton added a run in the third when Caminero came home on a bases-loaded walk.
