Ed Stivender considered a storytelling chameleon

Ed Stivender

Ed Stivender, a Philadelphia-based teller regarded as a “chameleon” in his industry, is next up in the International Storytelling Center’s popular Storytelling Live! series.

Stivender’s stint in downtown Jonesborough will run July 12-16, with daily matinees at 2 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Storytelling Hall, an intimate theater in the heart of the center’s building.

All concerts will feature Stivender’s lively banjo music as well as a selection of new works and old favorites.

In addition to his regular matinees, Stivender will offer a special Saturday morning children’s concert at 10:30 a.m., July 16. The storyteller will share a wide variety of Jack tales, another of his many specialties. Tickets for the children’s concert are $5 for all ages, and all ticket holders will receive coupons for 15 percent off at The Lollipop Shop, a popular Main Street store that sells old-fashioned sweets and toys. Space is limited, so reservations are highly recommended.
