KINGSPORT — It was the Fourth of July at Hunter Wright Stadium and fans got plenty of fireworks.
Just not the pyrotechnics they perhaps expected.
Johnson City hit two two-run home runs in the second inning and went on to a 9-7 win over Kingsport in a festive Appalachian League holiday matchup on Monday night.
There were 27 hits in the contest, 14 for the K-Mets (7-7) and 13 for the Cardinals.
The teams played a 13-inning thriller in Johnson City on Sunday night with the K-Mets rallying from three runs down to pull out a 7-6 victory.
