Whether or not that fun involves fishing is a judgement call.
Area TVA reservoirs will attract high concentrations of jet skiers, pleasure boaters and assorted Independence Day weekend revelers.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports that last weekend’s Operation Dry Water netted only 11 boating under the influence arrests across the state, down from 27 last year. That’s good news. TWRA officers will remain out in force during the July Fourth holiday period.
Johnny Wood at WCYB-TV5 in Bristol points out that the holiday weekend is a good time to pack a picnic and take kids fishing. On heavily-trafficked Boone Lake, bluegill may very well be the only species headstrong enough to bite during the frenetic daylight hours. Head to Kenny’s Bait & Tackle on Highway 75 near Boone Dam and pick up some live crickets for bait.
