KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Mets have a player who could teach Charlie Sheen a thing or two about winning.
Batting in the leadoff spot, tiger-blooded second baseman Yucary De La Cruz got on base five times in five plate appearances, setting the tone for Kingsport’s 10-3 Appalachian League win over the visiting Bristol Sox on Sunday night.
The game concluded a three-game homestand sweep of the Sox and the second consecutive beating by the exact same score.
“We got our butts kicked. There are no two ways around it,” said Bristol coach Pete Rose Jr.
“Tip your hat to them. They made all the plays, swung the bats well, pitched well and played pretty good defense.”
