KINGSPORT — In Friday’s 33rd running of the Times-News Relays at Sullivan North, Tennessee High’s Jennifer Cannon was the bomb.
The Lady Vikings’ hyper-gifted track star picked up a silver medal in the long jump, set a meet record while sweeping both hurdles and got Tennessee High’s 4x400-meter relay off to a winning start.
If that weren’t impressive enough, Cannon’s shoes helped Dobyns-Bennett’s Olivia Loveless collect a bronze medal in the 800.
No kidding. Mere moments after Cannon shattered Megan Lyons’ meet record in the 300 hurdles with a 43.37, D-B coach Bob Bingham hurriedly requested Cannon’s record-setting racers on behalf of Loveless, who had a last-minute shoe crisis.
