KINGSPORT — After all the miserable weather we’ve had lately, Sullivan South’s baseball team enjoyed stepping out into the sunshine.
J.J. Kelly’s mood was more suited for gray skies.
Pitcher Zane Bass gave up three hits and Andrew Copas surrendered none as the Rebels rolled to a 10-3 win over the visiting Indians in Wednesday’s opening game of Coca-Cola Classic pool play at South.
The Rebels (4-1) rapped 11 hits and exploited five Kelly errors.
“We left a bunch of people on early. I thought that was going to come back and get us,” said South coach Anthony Richardson, whose team left eight men stranded over the first three innings.
