GATE CITY — Because she was pitching behind the talented rotation of Kaylla Holdway and Marie Chandler, Powell Valley’s Demi Reynolds didn’t get abundant opportunities to step into the ring last year.
This season, she should expect opportunities galore.
Reynolds struck out five and went the distance in a 2-1 non-district softball win at Gate City on Tuesday. The sophomore also ignited the Lady Vikings’ comeback rally with a solo home run in the seventh inning.
The Lady Vikings (3-0) beat Gate City 8-3 last week at Big Stone Gap.
“I’m just glad I got to beat them twice. I’m happy about that,” piped Reynolds (3-0), who gave up four hits and walked none over her seven-inning shift.
