KINGSPORT — The spirit of giving is linked with the holiday season. Sullivan North’s boys basketball team let that generosity extend onto the court, however, and paid the price.
The Golden Raiders allowed Unicoi County to shoot 57.7 percent from the field in an 82-69 Three Rivers Conference victory Friday night. According to North coach Mitch Cox, the point total yielded is the highest surrendered by the Raiders during his tenure.
“We tend to pride ourselves on being a pretty good defensive team. Always have with our zone,” Cox said. “Credit them, they shot the ball well. But, man, they got an awful lot of layups, too.”
