An ongoing investigation in Hawkins County has prompted drug charges against a Rogersville couple, while information on narcotics in transport led to another arrest.

According to Hawkins County Sheriff's Office arrest reports, a search warrant was executed Tuesday night at 222 Choptack Road, lot No. 6. During the search police discovered the home was outfitted with video surveillance monitoring systems that allowed approaching traffic to be monitored.

Upon entry to the home the resident, Tony Aaron Wright, 25, was detained. Police say they immediately saw several narcotics bagged and sprawled across a kitchen table, including two types of morphine, two types of Xanax, two types of Clonazepam and marijuana. In a bedroom a baggie containing a small amount of methamphetamine was allegedly discovered.

Police report they also found four blister packs of pseudoephedrine pills — a key ingredient in manufacturing methamphetamine — and numerous cut straws, pipes and empty baggies. Two hand-written ledgers, containing names of individuals who owe money for various drug transactions, were also seized, along with, "several illegal large blade knives/swords."

Wright was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of schedule II drugs with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling where illegal narcotics are housed or stored and possession of prohibited weapons. As of Thursday evening he was held in the Hawkins County jail on a $50,000 bond.

Police say Wright's girlfriend was present when the warrant was executed. They added that she frequents the home on a regular basis. Brittany Dawn Oaks, 23, of 3612 Watterson Street, Apartment No. 39, Kingsport, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of schedule II drugs with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. She remains jailed in Hawkins County on a $25,000 bond.

In a separate report, police say they arrested a Whitesburg man late Wednesday night during a traffic stop on Highway 11 W, near Marble Hall Road. Officers had reportedly received, "reliable information," the man would be transporting Roxicodone tablets.

The suspect, Johnny Malcolm "Cornbread" Maddox, 24, of 131 Dogwood Lane, lot No. 1, Whitesburg, allegedly admitted to traveling with three pills which he intended to sell. However, according to the report, Maddox threw the drugs out his vehicle's window when he saw police.

Maddox was arrested and charged with possession of schedule II drugs with intent to deliver and tampering with evidence. He has been released from the Hawkins County jail on a $10,000 bond.
