A Kingsport woman has been arrested after police allegedly found her car parked in a cemetery, on top of the headstones for two grave plots.
Melissa R. Moore, 42, of 1535 Fort Henry Drive, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a Kingsport police arrest report, the incident occurred early Saturday morning in Oak Hill Cemetery, 800 Truxton Drive.
An officer reports that at about 3:00 a.m. he found Moore sitting on the side of Forbes Street, which borders the cemetery. She allegedly claimed to have been there for several hours awaiting a ride, and admitted to drinking alcohol.
According to the report, Moore said her car had broken down and was still in the cemetery. The officer reports transporting her inside the grounds, finding her Dodge Intrepid, "in the middle of two grave plots resting on two headstones."
Moore allegedly claimed she, "was not sure," how the vehicle had ended up in its position. The report says she consented to a search of the car, with a rolled dollar bill containing white residue being found inside. According to the report, Moore claimed a friend had been using it to snort pills.
Moore was arrested and booked into the city jail, while her car was towed from the scene.comments powered by Disqus
