KNOXVILLE —Determining a travel roster for Tennessee’s first road game of the football season wasn’t very difficult for Derek Dooley. In fact, the coach says he’ll take only 66 or 68 players — below the typical 70-man limit for away games.
Then again, the Volunteers have been playing with less than maximum numbers all season long. Already substantially short of the 85-scholarship limit, injuries continue to whittle the number of available bodies and it’s showing up on the depth chart leading into Saturday’s trip to Baton Rouge, La., to face No. 12 LSU (3:30 p.m., WJHL-TV11).
Tennessee (2-2, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) has no backup listed at weak-side linebacker behind Savion Frazier or at right cornerback behind Eric Gordon. Daniel Hood is listed as the backup at both offensive tackle spots. Carson Anderson currently is the second-stringer at left offensive guard and center.
