A 19-year-old Church Hill man has been charged with sexual battery of a nine-year-old boy, with the incident allegedly occurring inside a portable restroom at the VFW park.
According to Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson, at about 6:30 Monday night officers were called to ball fields on VFW Road. He says officers located the alleged victim, who then provided a "detailed statement" of events.
The boy named his alleged attacker as William D. McAllister, 19, of 340 Silver Lake Road. According to the victim's mother, McAllister had asked if her son could walk with him to the ball fields.
Police say McAllister claimed a young girl was also going, though that was not the case.
Once at the park, McAllister allegedly forced the boy into a portable restroom. Johnson says McAllister ordered the victim to pull his pants down, then sexually assaulted him.
The victim was able to escape, opening the door of the restroom and running away. Johnson said police have interviewed an independent witness, who reported seeing the boy run from the restroom while pulling up his underwear and pants. The witness also reported another individual was inside the unit.
Johnson says McAllister was picked up and questioned by police. He was subsequently charged with sexual battery.
Noting McAllister hasn't been proven guilty, Johnson cautioned parents against letting their children accompany individuals they aren't extremely familiar with.
"I assure the public that we will prosecute this case as carefully, legally and professionally as possible," Johnson said.comments powered by Disqus
