KINGSPORT — Before Sunday evening’s doubleheader against the Bristol Sox at Hunter Wright Stadium, the Kingsport Mets handed out their postseason awards.
Hitter of the year honors went to Aderlin Rodriguez. Pitcher of the year honors went to Orlando Tovar.
And, by the time play concluded late Sunday night, an absence of timely hitting or pitching had the K-Mets pointed to a last-place finish in their Appalachian League division.
Bristol swept the twin bill, rallying in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the first game by a 4-3 margin. Then, the Sox held off the K-Mets in the nightcap to win 3-1.
