A Kingsport man was arrested Friday after allegedly attacking his grandmother and legally blind uncle, then chasing them from their home with a butcher knife.

A 20-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene after directing, "very vile and vulgar language," towards police. An arrest report notes the incident was watched by several nearby patrons of Fun Fest's Taste of the Tri-Cities event, located on Fort Henry Drive.

Kingsport police say they were called to a fight at 1636 Fairfield Ave., at about 5:25 p.m. The responding officer reports being flagged down near the home by a man with blood on his left leg and arm.

The man, 40, relayed that his nephew was trying to cut him with a knife, according to the report. At the residence police spoke with a woman, 61, who said her grandson, "had gone off in a rage," and began fighting with people at the home.

The victims told police that Cory C. White, 21, was cussing his grandmother, "and became very hostile and violent." When White's uncle — who police note is legally blind — stepped between the two, White allegedly punched him in the face and kicked him in the chest.

Police say the victim threw several punches to defend himself, and that the woman was struck multiple times while attempting to break up the fight.

According to the report, White then grabbed a butcher knife and began threatening his uncle and grandmother, prompting them to run from the home.

Police say they found White and a 12-inch knife at the scene. White, who lives at the residence with the victims, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated domestic assault.

According to the report, while police were at the home a woman arrived and, "jumped from her vehicle and began cursing loudly, using very vulgar language." The reporting officer says the woman, "presented herself to be extremely excited and/or violent." She was allegedly told "several times" to stop cursing and yelling and to leave the residence.

"She did get into her vehicle but continued her very vile and vulgar language," reads the report, adding "several citizens" were nearby at the taste of the Tri-Cities event.

The woman, identified as Brittany L. White, 20, of 651 Dale St., Apartment No. 22, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
