Authorities have classified a Friday morning home fire in Bloomingdale — the second at that location in two months — as arson. An investigation is continuing.
According to a report at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, shortly after midnight units responded to 282 Alabama St. The responding deputy reports flames were shooting from the roof of the residence, which is unoccupied.
The daughter of the property owner told police the residence is a rental property, last occupied in October of 2009. She said they have been working on the property in recent weeks in preparation of renting it again.
The police report notes this is the second fire at the structure in two months; on May 18 a blaze at the home was ruled as arson.
Fire officials on scene Friday morning advised the most recent fire should be, as well, due to the previous incident and no electricity running to the home. An investigation continues.
