A Kingsport man has been charged with DUI after a report of a man being hit by a vehicle.
It occurred at about 1 a.m. Wednesday at 137 Georgia Private Drive, lot No. 2. A report at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says police were called to the scene on a report of a crash, with a man being run over.
According to the responding deputy's report, an investigation revealed "no crash, but an aggravated assault."
He says that while on the scene a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer pulled in. The driver allegedly exited the truck, approached police and, "advised he was the driver of the vehicle that hit the man."
The man, identified as Rocky James Gunter, 27, of 1045 Cooper St., Kingsport, reportedly had an odor of alcohol and admitted to drinking. He produced an ID card to police, with a subsequent check through dispatch revealing his license revoked for DUI.
The deputy reports he was arrested and charged with DUI, third offense, and driving on a revoked license, sixth offense.
The report provided no details of the alleged assault, or condition of the alleged victim.
