A Kingsport man was arrested Sunday after allegedly breaking into a home and fighting his cousin.
The suspect, who claimed his cousin had stolen pills, fled the residence after his aunt hit him in the head with a PVC pipe.
According to a Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrest report and court affidavit, the incident occurred shortly before noon at 1212 Leeland Drive, Kingsport. Stacy Junior Gibson, 35, of 3332 Horseshoe Drive, has been charged with aggravated breaking and entering and domestic assault.
Gibson told police he had been assaulted by his aunt, the 50-year-old resident of the Leeland Drive home. The report says Gibson was transported by EMS to Holston Valley Medical Center with an apparent head injury.
When police spoke with Gibson's aunt, she relayed that Gibson had came to her home and began an altercation with her 20-year-old son. The woman claimed that Gibson was separated from her son and taken outside the residence.
According to the police report, Gibson tried to get his cousin to come outside. When the man wouldn't, Gibson allegedly kicked in a kitchen door that was being held shut by his aunt, forcing his way inside.
Gibson's aunt claimed that Gibson then started to fight her son in the laundry room of her home. She admitted to striking Gibson in the head with a PVC pipe to separate the two.
The report says her statements were corroborated by another man who witnessed the incident, but was not involved.
Police then went to the hospital to speak with Gibson. While his statements didn't match up with his aunt's, he allegedly did admit to kicking the kitchen door. Gibson told police he had went to the residence to confront his cousin, who he suspected of stealing, "some pills."
After receiving treatment for his head injury, Gibson was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and domestic assault, then transported to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville.comments powered by Disqus
