One dead in Greene County crash

June 9th, 2010 10:01 am by Bill Jones

A Greene County man was fatally injured about 2 p.m. Tuesday when the car he was driving along Gap Creek Road near Pilot Mountain Road left the road, overturned and struck trees.

Michael W. Jordan, 47, of Spears Dykes Road, was driving a 1987 Toyota Celica north on Gap Creek Road when he lost control of the vehicle while on a curve just past Pilot Mountain Road, according to a report by Deputy Sheriff Randy Christy.

The car initially went off the right side of the road and traveled about 110 feet along an embankment before Jordan apparently over-corrected its steering while attempting to get the vehicle back onto the road, the report said.
