GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A recreation official in Greeneville says he believes the city was chosen to host a national collegiate golf tourney because of its charm.

Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville will host the 2011 and 2012 NAIA women's championships.

Greeneville Parks & Recreation Director Butch Patterson will be tourney director both years. It had been his idea to bid for the events.

Patterson said, "They like our charm."

According to The Greeneville Sun, the other finalists were San Diego and Salem, Ore.

Local officials expect the tourney to bring in $250,000 per year to the area.
