100-plus charges placed against Johnson City man in embezzlement case

A man police charged with stealing nearly $150,000 from a business isn’t just an employee, he’s the owner’s son-in-law.

David W. Baldwin, 51, 1508 Woodmont Drive, Johnson City, has been the manager for Dennis Powell Body Shop, located on Wayfield Drive.

He’s charged with 15 counts of theft over $1,000, 48 counts of theft under $500, 18 counts of identity theft, 24 counts of forgery under $500, two counts of forgery over $1,000 and one count of forgery over $60,000.
