Plane crashes into central Va. house

March 4th, 2010 12:00 am by Associated Press

LOUISA, Va. (AP) — Officials say an aircraft has crashed into a house in central Virginia.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters says the Cessna T303 Crusader twin-engine plane departed Louisa County Airport en route to Reston when it crashed. He says preliminary eyewitness accounts were that the plane’s engines had quit before it crashed into the home.

It was not immediately clear whether the pilot or anyone else who could have been on board survived. Peters says at least one resident in the house got out safely.

The crash will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
