NASHVILLE — A coroner has determined a foster child’s death in Nashville was from natural causes.
Metro Nashville Medical Examiner Bruce Levy concluded the brain damage that killed 12-week-old Cherokeewolf William Deidrich was sustained while the child was in the womb or during his birth.
The Tennessean reported a homicide investigation was begun after doctors at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital said the boy died of non-accidental brain injuries.
The baby was born to homeless parents and was immediately placed in state custody.
He was living with foster parents when he stopped breathing. The couple were never charged with any crime.
