According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel, a bicycle riding bank robber is in custody after he ran his escape two-wheeler into a passing motorist, authorities said.
According to Athens Detective Sgt. Heath Willis, Jack Lee Braden III, 20, of Athens rode his bicycle to the Athens Federal building just before noon, parked it outside, pulled a hood over his head and tied a bandana over his face before entering the building.
Willis said Braden gave a note to a teller stating that he wanted cash or he would hurt someone. The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money. Willis said Braden left the building, climbed on his bicycle, and peddled into the path of an oncoming car.
