The traffic stop of a car driving on the wrong side of Center Street has resulted in the arrest of a Greeneville couple on felony drug charges, along with the confiscation of marijuana and 122 oxycodone pills.

According to a police report from Kingsport police, the incident occurred at 8:19 Wednesday night. An officer observed a 1984 Pontiac traveling left of the center line on Center Street, and initiated a stop.

The vehicle reportedly pulled off Center Street and stopped at the intersection of Prospect Drive and Waverly Road. The driver was identified as Michelle Lynn Vest, 34, the passenger as Chad Edward Vest, 30, both of 2158 Shiloh Road, Greeneville, Tenn.

Police say they were given consent to search the vehicle, locating two baggies of marijuana within a purse. The marijuana was reportedly more than half an ounce, and accompanied by scales and four empty baggies.

The arrest reports says two pill bottles were also found in the purse, containing 122 30 mg oxycodone. Police seized all the drugs, the car and $399 from Chad Vest's wallet.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession of schedule VI narcotics for resale within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule II narcotics. Michelle was also charged with driving left of center.
