Johnson City man faces 500-plus charges related to child pornography

Hundreds of child pornography images were discovered in a Johnson City man’s home Tuesday, police said.

Johnson City police were informed that the home of Samuel Kent Barnett, 47, 1106 Freemont St., Apt. 15, contained a large number of images of child pornography. Police searched Barnett’s home Tuesday and discovered approximately 597 images downloaded through his computer and printed out onto paper, according to a news release.

Police seized the images and two computers from Barnett’s home. The computers will be analyzed for content, police said. Barnett was charged with 597 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
