December 28th, 2009 12:00 am by Anna L. Mallory

The Roanoke Times is reorting that people who know the Bristol, Tenn. man accused of holding three people hostage in a Wytheville post office hostage last week say he can be malicious and tell tales.

"He's had a mean streak in him somewhere on down the line," Ruth White, whose granddaughter, Regina, was married to Warren "Gator" Taylor for a decade, said.

Court records from Florida also detail a violent history for the 53-year-old, who served four years of a 12-year prison sentence for shooting another ex-wife and was also convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior toward a teenage girl.

Still, at least one family member said he never expected to see Taylor's picture on the national news this holiday season. Taylor,  kept authorities at bay for nearly nine hours after entering the post office about 2:30 p.m. with four guns and telling police he had explosives.

"He goes through his hard times," said Dallas Gross, Taylor's uncle.
