Petition seeks max sentence in dog dragging case

December 11th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

An online petition boasting the names of more than 5,200 people worldwide was delivered to Knox County prosecutors on Thursday, urging that the maximum sentence be sought against a Knoxville man charged with dragging a dog behind his pickup truck last month.

The 17-pound terriermix dog, which has become known as “Little Brown Dog,” or LBD for short, continues to recover at the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine following skin graft procedures.

Jimmy Lovell, 45, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty for allegedly dragging the dog several miles behind his truck by a rope on Nov. 3 until witnesses were able to stop him.
