A driver who entered oncoming traffic to pass motorists on Fort Henry Drive was arrested on multiple charges Sunday by Kingsport police.
According to an incident report, at around 3:35 p.m. police received numerous calls of a 1994 Plymouth Sundance driving recklessly. One motorist reports they were traveling east on Fort Henry drive when the Sundance entered westbound traffic to pass them -- forcing an oncoming motorist to swerve into the median.
A short time later police located the car turning off of Fort Henry Drive onto Rock Springs Road. Police report the driver sped up to get through a one-way tunnel on Rock Springs Road, passing another vehicle that had the right of way.
The suspect pulled his car over at the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Leaf Point Road, in the front yard of a residence. Police say the driver, Brandon S. Ball, 33, of 1128 Myrtle St., Kingsport, appeared "very intoxicated" and spoke with slurred speech.
Ball allegedly told police his back was hurting earlier while working on a vehicle, and he'd been "eating his medication" to alleviate the pain.
Police say Ball had an empty prescription bottle for Subutex and a prescription bottle for Clonazepam. Inside the vehicle they found an empty bottle of Hurricane malt liquor and a straw with white residue.
Ball was arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment, fourth offense DUI, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug equipment and violation of open container law.
A passenger in Ball's car, Travis S. Dishner, 26, of the same address, was also arrested for public drunkenness. The car was towed from the scene.comments powered by Disqus
