A Mount Carmel woman faces a felony charge of reckless endangerment following an alleged DUI wreck on Tuesday.
Police say the woman's van carried a "small child" when the incident occurred.
According to an report from Kingsport police, the wreck occurred at 11:23 a.m., at the intersection of University Boulevard and West Stone Drive. Police arrived to find a 2002 Ford Windstar and another car in the intersection after colliding.
The report says a female, later identified as Cynthia Carol Milligan, 31, of 217 Englewood Drive, was at the curb holding a "small child." She stated she was the drive of the Windstar, but according to police, appeared disoriented, unsteady on her feet. She also allegedly had difficulty answering questions.
A witness told police that just after the collision occurred, he saw Milligan remove the child from a booster seat in the front passenger side of the van. The child suffered minor abrasions and bruises, and required medical attention.
A check of Milligan's drivers license status revealed it had been suspended. Milligan was transported to Holston Valley medical Center where she consented to a blood test to determine her drug and alcohol content.
Milligan was charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license and felony reckless endangerment. She was transported to the city and her blood sample was placed into evidence.comments powered by Disqus
