FBI investigating death threats against carjack attorneys

KNOXVILLE — The FBI is investigating death threats against the defense attorneys for torture-slaying alleged ringleader Lemaricus Davidson.

Attorneys Doug Trant and David Eldridge made that announcement in a press conference this morning before a hearing for Davidson, who is charged with the January 2007 carjacking, rape and murders of University of Tennessee student Channon Christian, 21, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23.

“If we can catch them they will be prosecuted,” Trant said. “We’re not going to be intimidated. We’re going to do our job.”
