ROGERSVILLE - For five minutes, the only sound in the Hawkins County Circuit Court courtroom was the humming of a small black fan.
At the end of each full minute, District Attorney General Berkeley Bell marked the time lapse aloud: "One minute ... two minutes ... three minutes ... four minutes ... five minutes."
That, Bell asserted, is how long Kenneth Wayne Taylor spent choking his 16-year-old foster son, Jordan Kaleb Shelton - and why he should be convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse for the boy's death.
