NASHVILLE - Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam's stance on carrying guns in city parks on Thursday drew criticism from two of his Republican gubernatorial campaign opponents, while a third was somewhat more supportive.
All three of Haslam's major GOP primary opponents, however, suggested that the mayor's maneuvers on gun issues indicate he has difficulty making tough decisions. A Haslam spokesman rejected such contentions.
"Once again, Mayor Haslam comes down on the wrong side of our Second Amendment rights guaranteed in the Constitution," said U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp of Chattanooga.
