Body identified in Watauga Lake boating accident

HAMPTON — Authorities have identified the man whose body was recovered from Watauga Lake this afternoon.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Officer David Crum said John Pickle, 61, Johnson City died and his body was pulled from the docking area of Fish Springs Marina on Watauga Lake about 12:30 p.m. today.

Three people were on a pontoon boat about 9 a.m. when the accident occurred. Also on the boat was Raymond Pickle, 57, Jonesborough, the brother of John Pickle. He was treated and released from Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Another person on the boat could not be identified
