Police officer fired for shoving Wal-Mart greeter, unauthorized gun, drinking on duty

August 14th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, former police Officer Ralph Kenneth Freeman had every opportunity to improve his conduct but eventually ran out of chances and was fired, police Chief Freeman Cooper said Wednesday.

The officer was fired  after internal affairs investigations revealed  he drank alcohol while armed, possessed an unauthorized off-duty firearm, billed a company for hours he did not work, lied to investigators and worked an extra security job while on leave from the department.

Freeman was also suspended for 28 days earlier this year for conduct unbecoming an officer, improper procedure and excessive use of force in connection with assaulting a Wal-Mart greeter in December 2008.
