The Morristown Citizen Tribune is reporting that a large-scale OxyContin-distribution network that linked Florida suppliers to Morristown dealers is in the mop-up phase.
One of the intermediaries, Florida resident Louis Eyzaguirre, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Greeneville this week and was sentenced to 64 months in federal prison.
The ringleader, Robert Velez, another Florida resident, was convicted at trial in June and faces up to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced in November.
The local alleged dealers — Dustin Patterson, 24; Jordan Pierce, 20; Michael Cline, 20; Justin Horton, 24; Joshua Cody, 19, Brian Still, 42, Brandon Smallman, 23, and Jennifer Green, 20 — are scheduled to cop pleas on Monday or Tuesday, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Authorities say these eight defendants face federal prison terms at least as long as Eyzaguirre’s.
