Bristol Kroger prepares for presidential visit

July 27th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

According to the Bristol Herald Courier, Wednesday won’t be Barack Obama’s first trip to Bristol. He kicked off his general election campaign at Virginia High School in June 2008.

A year and a month after that visit Obama will arrive in Bristol to talk about  health care. At 4 p.m. Wednesday he will host a grocery aisle Q&A with Kroger employees at the grocery store on Midway Street.

Only store employees are invited to the Wednesday event and on Sunday all 87 were working to get the place ship shape.

“I’m very excited, very honored to be a part of it,” store manager Rick Caldwell told the Herald Courier. “From what I understand, we are the first retailer selected in the country to do a town hall meeting.”
