According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel, Grainger County is preparing for imminent war this weekend - a war that involves red, juicy and round ammunition.
The Grainger County Tomato Festival's tomato wars are this weekend, and its expected to draw hundreds of people to the area, Festival Chairman John Beckwith told the News Sentinel reporter.
"It's very fierce competition out there," said Renee Jarnigan, who is in charge of the tomato wars.
Most of the participants are children who form teams of five the day of the event, Beckwith said. The game resembles dodgeball as participants dodge rotten tomatoes while trying to hit others with the juicy fruit.
