According to a report in the Greeneville Sun, a woman who lost control of her car after apparently striking a dog, died Tuesday morning when her vehicle was hit broad-side by a van on the Asheville Highway.
The victim was identified as Regina Ayers, 49, of Kitchen Branch Road.
The accident report indicated that Ayers' car went off the right side of the road and traveled about 50 feet along an embankment before she apparently over-corrected its steering causing the car to veer to the left back into the roadway and into the path of a southbound 1995 GMC van driven by Herman Riddle, 67, of Sunnydale Road.
Riddle was listed as uninjured, while his passenger, Joyce Riddle, 68, was listed as injured. She was transported by a Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services ambulance.
