The Chattanooga Times Free Press is reporting that East Ridge councilmen delayed action on a resolution to ban guns in parks and other greenways Thursday night.
City councils all across the state are considering whether they should overstep the Tennessee General Assembly which voted to allow concealed-carry permit holders to bring guns into parks and restaurants earlier this spring.
Each municipality has until Sept. 1 to vote on their own to ban the guns.
East Ridge and Signal Mountain are considering whether to vote in their own ban. Red Bank and Hamilton County already have voted to ban guns in parks. Chattanooga’s council has voted to affirm their previous ban on guns in parks, and will make it official with a resolution at Tuesday’s council meeting.
