Worker thrown onto I-26 when cable breaks, transported with non-life threatening injuries

A worker that was repairing cables dividing the east and westbound lanes of I-26 was injured Thursday morning when the cable broke and struck him, knocking him onto interstate.

According to Kingsport Police Officer Dale Farmer, the accident occurred on the section of I-26 between I-81 and Rock Springs Road at about 9:30 a.m. The worker, whose name was not released, was taken to an area hospital with a head injuries and scratches to his arm, but nothing that is believed to be life threatening. 

When thrown onto the road, all oncoming traffic was able to stop, and the worker was not struck by any vehicles.
