Man takes pot plant to Target's customer service desk; says he found it growing outside Kingsport store

June 8th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

A pot plant appears to have been planted or growing wild at the Kingsport Pavilion shopping center until it was pulled up by a customer.

Kingsport Police responded to the shopping center, 2626 E. Stone Drive, about 7:45 p.m. Friday.

A man had brought a marijuana plant to the customer service desk at Target and told an employee that he'd found it growing in the parking lot, police said.

The employee alerted the store's security officer, who then asked the KPD to come pick it up.

Police retrieved the plant and advised a destruction order would be issued.

Target's security officer said he would check the landscaping for signs of any more such growth.
