Homeowner feels guilty over killing of bear that barged into her home

June 8th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that a West Knoxville veterinarian says she may never forgive herself for the death of a black bear that was killed after bursting into her home.

Jennifer Stephens thinks she is partly to blame for the animal's capture and death over the weekend because she'd left food for stray cats outside her house.

Stephens was watching the bear as it ate the cat food moments before it was startled by a dog then burst through her front glass door. She told reporters "he was more scared than I was" and never threatened me.
