A Knoxville woman had an encounter with a startled bear that crashed through a glass door, reportedly chased her around the living room, then scurried out of the back door. The woman was not injured during the incident.
According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel police toting shotguns were searching for the bear Wednesday night and telling residents of the area to stay inside their homes - and to keep their pets indoors. The first reports that a bear had broken into a home came in about 10:20 p.m.
Tom and Becky Mash are quoted telling police that they were walking their dog north on Renford Drive when they saw the bear. They think their dog scared the bear so badly that it panicked and blundered into a woman’s home.
