81-year-old Chuckey man killed in wreck, apparently had heart attack then hit another car

According to a report by the Greeneville Sun an elderly Chuckey man was killed in a wreck on the Erwin Hightway Saturday afternoon after he apparently suffered a heart attack while driving. His car hit a car waiting to make a turn, which caused that car to hit another car.

The driver was identified in a Greene County deputy's report as Shadrack E. Hampton, 81, of 3351 Highway 107, Chuckey.

Hampton was taken by helicopter to Laughlin Memorial Hospital and then to Johnson City Medical Center, where he was pronouced dead due to a cardiac arrest, according to the report.

All three vehicles were westbound, and two vehicles were stopped, waiting to make a left turn into Horse Creek Park Road, the report said.
