Morristown Mother's Day slaying suspect caught in NC

The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that auhorities have arrested the suspect in a Mother's Day shooting that killed a 40-year-old mother of five.

Hamblen County Chief Deputy Wayne Mize said 41-year-old Carmen Vences was arrested in Mount Airy, N.C., this afternoon.

Carmen, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who has lived in the Morristown area for three or four years, is the father of the slain woman's five children.

The shooting took place during a coming-of-age celebration for a Hispanic youth held at a business rented for the occasion at 111 Spencer Hale Road.

Adelina Delasancha was killed by Vences in what appeared to be a fit of jealous rage, authorities said.
