The Greeneville Sun is reporting that sheriff's deputies are investigating an incident Sunday where a Cranberry Circle man was slashed in the face with a utility knife.
A report filed by Sheriff's Sgt. Glenna Estepp about 2:50 a.m. Sunday said the victim told officers he was attacked inside his residence and slashed three times in the face with a "box-cutter" utility knife by a man he named to officers.
The Sheriff's Department report said the victim's wife told officers she and her husband had returned home about 2:30 a.m. and that her husband had gone into a bathroom while she went to a bedroom in another part of the house.
Shortly thereafter, according to the report, the wife heard her husband yelling and ran toward the bathroom. As she did so, according to the report, she saw a man she named to officers running out the front door of the residence.
The report said the wife then found her husband lying on the bathroom floor bleeding from his wounds.
