According to a report in the Bristol Herald Courier Tony Glenn Coleman, of Abingdon, was being held without bond late Tuesday at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon after being charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm while committing a felony, said Washington County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jack Davidson.
Shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday, police said Coleman shot his son, Justin Coleman, 19, three times using a .22-caliber rifle. Police told the Herald Couier that Coleman had earlier called police complaining that his son had threatened him.
The younger Coleman was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon and then moved to Bristol Regional Medical Center, where he remained in critical but stable condition late Tuesday, a BRMC nursing supervisor said. He was being treated for gunshot wounds to his left side, arm and back, Newman said.
