KINGSPORT - A Fall Branch man was killed Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding struck a pickup waiting at a red light, Kingsport police say.

Traffic was stopped for the red light on Wilcox Drive at the Meadowview Parkway intersection when the wreck happened, police said.

Brian Donald Davenport, 39, 460 Oak Glen Road, Fall Branch, approached the intersection at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop, police said. He was killed when his motorcycle struck the rear of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup hauling a utility trailer.

The driver of the pickup, Joseph T. Crawford, 39, 367 Ball Orchard Private Drive, Kingsport, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges are expected to be placed.
