One person was extricated from a car and transported for treatment on Thursday following a five-car crash on Fort Henry Drive.
According to Kingsport Police Department Officer John McGee, the chain-reaction wreck involved cars that had stopped due to maintenance on Hammond Bridge.
"Traffic was backed up and a vehicle coming down the hill hit a stopped vehicle in the rear, causing a chain reaction with the other vehicles in front of it," McGee said.
A fifth vehicle approaching the scene "was left with nowhere to go and no escape route," according to McGee, and piled into the others.
Besides the one individual transported for treatment, all others were examined at the scene. Officials say none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
An investigation into the crash is continuing.
